In this disastrous equation of human misery, we work many associations of people who are dedicated to saving and recovering these very special animals, and we are extremely overwhelmed when it comes to addressing all the cases that are presented to us, without talking about the lack of resources, and when the end of the hunting season comes this situation worsens substantially, a really difficult time in the calendar of the fight to save them.

Adoption

Once recovered, our goal is to look for people with desire and love to give a new life to these wonderful beings. Currently most adoptions are taking place outside of Spain but changing this trend and encouraging people to adopt here is also a priority and in the face of possible reluctance, to inform about the suitability of the greyhound as a companion animal, which adapts very well to live in flat and city. Of course without losing sight of the fact that the possession of any animal, and more an animal that has had a bad time, requires an important commitment and responsibility.

Greyhound Things

The fundamental thing to note is that greyhounds are fantastic animals in many and varied ways. Not only because of its impressive elegance and beauty, its style and agility when walking or running, or its eyebrow or ear gestures or its famous smile, but they are tremendously affectionate, sometimes a bit naughty, but very playful, lazy and stiff, and especially with a touch of good humor or comedy when it comes to naturally. Sharing life with them is an experience that any sensitive person never regrets except for not being able to devote more time and energy.

Things to keep in mind

The greyhound that comes from an environment of abuse and suffering, lacking positive experience of the human race, needs to gain your confidence and feel above all clothed and protected. You may be very afraid, or fears may manifest in certain situations, which require attention, work and sometimes a lot of patience. And above all a lot of love, of course.

As in many cases they have already been used for hunting, you have to be very careful when releasing or carrying them loose. This is a very tricky issue because many people, because of a fright or something else that distracts them, can run away and get lost or suffer an accident. The best advice is when in doubt, wear them on a leash.

In all ways, we are always at your disposal to advise and help with problems or doubts of any kind.

And now you just need to run like a greyhound to put another in your life.

Many greyhounds, few houses.

According to data collected between shelters and kennels, it is estimated that every year about 60,000 greyhounds are slaughtered in Spain by their owners or abandoned to their fate.

This is the result of dog breeding, without any administrative control, carried out by the more than 190,000 federated greyhounds found in our country.

But while we constantly fight to change the situation, many of the battered greyhounds still do not have a home.

Adopt a greyhound

Every day we have two or three animals like that. The phone does not stop ringing.
